There is a lot to do
Nearly 40 % of the German forest consists of conifer monocultures that are poorly equipped for climate change and the increasing drought events. Due to climate change—rain deficits/higher temperatures—there are currently dramatic die-off processes affecting forest areas in Germany, covering over 900,000 hectares of woodland, mostly conifer forests, with a rising trend.
With your donation, we plant deciduous trees where conifer stands need to be converted into diverse mixed deciduous forests or where damaged areas must be replanted.
Climate adaptation challenge: forest
„Preserving the forest and all its ecosystem services and adapting it to the changes brought by climate change is the most important challenge for
politics, forest owners and society. Rising temperatures, changes in precipitation patterns and the increase in extreme events are leading to
significant disturbances in forests. … The necessary measures to preserve and adapt forests aim, in view of advancing climate change, to ensure the diverse ecosystem services of forests permanently. This requires, in many cases, active adaptation of forests to climate change by converting at-risk forests into climate-resilient mixed forests, with predominantly native tree species and provenances that are suited to the site and meet the projected climatic changes.“

Your donation for a task that benefits society as a whole
With your donation, you help drive the necessary transformation of forests into climate-resilient mixed deciduous woodlands. Trinkwasserwald e.V. is networked nationwide with forest owners and forestry offices, knows the needs in many places, and—thanks to your support—promotes the planting of site-appropriate deciduous trees to improve the climate resilience, water-retention capacity and biodiversity of our forests—which will also benefit future generations.
CSRD and ESG
You can use your involvement in the near-nature forest transformation as part of voluntary engagement under ESRS E3 and E4 for your reporting. You will receive corresponding impact and donation documentation.
