Planting broadleaf trees together
On 21 March, World Forestry Day, something very special happens in the Harz: children and parents write the future together. Just one day before World Water Day, we all get stuck in together – with spades, broadleaf saplings and hearts full of hope.
The non-profit organisation Trinkwasserwald invites pupils from a primary school in the Harz and their families to a tree-planting event. Up to 50 adults and children can help us plant young broadleaf trees that will provide not only shade, but life too: every broadleaf tree planted promotes biodiversity, strengthens humus formation and the soil’s ability to absorb water – so that the rain can become our drinking water of tomorrow.
The seed of responsibility
Ahead of time, Trinkwasserwald e. V. will visit the school to talk with the pupils about the forests that are so important to us: we depend on their timber, on the habitat they provide for a variety of species, on the groundwater they generate, and on the CO₂ they bind. Only with the support of many can we create more mixed broadleaf forests that are climate-resilient and rich in species. In this way, young and old help to create a society fit for the future.
One day before World Water Day – a sign for tomorrow
The fact that our action takes place exactly one day before World Water Day is no coincidence: mixed broadleaf forest is the invisible water reservoir that quietly and powerfully nourishes groundwater and springs. By replanting it where forest has died, we protect life itself – together with the children, because it is about their future.
Supported by donations – with heart
This action is only possible thanks to your donation. The tree-planting event is financed solely by donations – and every euro donated is used carefully to prepare the site, buy saplings, ensure protection from wild animals, enable environmental education, and organise both the joint environmental protection action and the tools needed for it. Because we are not just planting trees – we are creating habitats, places of learning and shared commitment – for you and your family.
Sign up. Join in planting.
A day in the forest – for generations to come.
Can’t be there? Even then you can make a difference. With a donation, you enable children to plant trees – so the environmental protection action in the Harz can be repeated next year for further school classes.

Write to us an email and let us know how many people will be taking part in our tree-planting event in Zellerfeld. We will then send you all further information, as well as the directions and the schedule, afterwards.
